On Thursday, June 9th at about 9:45 in the evening, deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle pursuit that originated in Warsaw. The vehicle pursuit ended in the area of Marshall County’s East County Line Road and 2B Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot. K9 Officer Diesel of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was deployed to track the suspect. K9 Diesel conducted a successful track and located the suspect hiding under a fallen tree and submerged underwater in a swamp. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Ryan Kreft of Bristol.

Kreft was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and booked for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement by fleeing on foot, Criminal Recklessness, Reckless Driving, Driving While Suspended with a Prior, Possession of Stolen Property, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, along with active warrants.

Information was also forwarded to the Marshall County prosecutor for review of criminal charges for the offenses that were committed in Marshall County.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
