Marshall County Deputy Jeffrey Haygood arrested a Walkerton man on Friday morning May 27th after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. 

At approximately 12:50 a.m. Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call of a single-vehicle accident.

Marshall County Officers arrived on the scene and located a male subject identified as 44-year-old Luis Alvarez, who appeared to be impaired. Alvarez was transported to Plymouth Hospital to receive a certified blood-alcohol draw, which determined his BAC was more than 3 times the legal limit.

Alvarez was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Prior, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated-Endangering, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
