County Drainage Board Accepts Petition from Richard Leeper & Two Others

Last week Richard Leeper and two other property owners asked the Marshall County Drainage Board to accept a petition to assume jurisdiction over a private/mutual drain, open ditch, located on the petitioner’s and others’ land. 

Leeper, Don Thompson, and Geres Farms LLC make the request.  The ditch is 2409 feet and some of the affected landowners have paid to have the ditch de-brushed, dipped and banks repaired.

County Surveyor Craig Cultice said the work completed on the open ditch has brought the ditch up to the county’s standards.  This ditch ties into the Gardner Ditch.

The County Drainage Board accepted the petition to bring the Leeper Arm into the county mutual drain system.  A public hearing will be conducted on July 18^th with additional information on the assessments for those who have a property in the watershed.
