Tuesday evening the Plymouth Community School Corporation School Board met in the Administration Building for their regular monthly meeting.  After accepting the Consent Agenda which includes the claims, retirements, resignations, leaves, terminations, appointments, transfers, substitutes, student activity requests, and out of state or overnight requests with no additional discussion the school board moved on to Business Transactions.

The first item was the hiring of a new principal at Plymouth High School to replace Jen Felke who left to take the position of North Central CTE (Career and Technical) Coordinator.  Superintendent Mawhorter made the recommendation to hire Jacob Singleton.  The superintendent told the school board they had 15 candidates for the position.  After the search committee reviewed those resumes, they narrowed the field to 5.  The top 5 were interviewed by the committee and then narrowed to 2 for second interviews.  Mr. Mawhorter said, “Jacob stood out among all the candidates with a relentless passion for helping students achieve and his compassion for staff members.”  He said Mr. Singleton has served his entire career in the Plymouth School Corporation beginning in 2012 as a Social Studies teacher.  In 2017 he started teaching at the Weidner School of Inquiry (WSOI) and the last three years were spent being the Assistant Principal at Lincoln Junior High School.

The Plymouth School Board unanimously approved the recommendation and motioned to hire Jacob Singleton as the new WSOI Principal at Plymouth High School.
