Last week the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a Variance of Use to allow an event venue for Ryan and Anna Morris at 17520 Pine Road in Culver.

Ryan Morris told members they have a barn ton their property that is 40 by 64 in the front and 50 by 64 in the back.  They want to make the barn that was built in 2012 an event venue to host up to 250 people for graduations, reunions and wedding receptions.  Their plan is to host event on weekends with events ending by midnight.

When asked about the well and septic Morris said they plan to address those issues and all the other requirements after they are sure the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals would give them a variance of use.

When asked about parking Morris said there is plenty of space and traffic will enter and exit on Pine Road instead of State Road 17.

During the public hearing three people spoke in favor of the Morris’ including Mike Trump representing the Maxinkuckee Odd Fellows. The lodge had no issues with the event center.  Others said the Morris family takes great pride in the property and are great neighbors.

After some discussion the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance of use for the creation of an event venue at 17520 Pine Road east of Culver.
