Update on Monday’s fatal traffic accidents on Veterans Parkway.
Just after 2 PM on Monday, March 7, Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call of a head on crash on Veterans Parkway, east of Michigan Road.
Emergency services arriving on scene determined that a black 2012 Jeep Liberty SUV driven by 26-year-old Scott Swihart of Rochester was headed west bound when it drove left of center for unknown reasons and struck the east bound blue 2016 GMC Tercel SUV head on killing the driver. The GMC Tercel driver that was killed was 79-year-old Clifford Weldy of Bremen.
Both occupants of the Jeep Liberty were transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Robert Hafke of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
