PLYMOUTH- Katie Kara Nielsen, 34, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Indiana Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born in Margate, Florida on September 1, 1987, to Kevin Alan and Cheryl Lynn “Sheree” (Ostaski) Nielsen. The family would move to Plymouth, in 1992 and Kate would attend Plymouth Schools where she much enjoyed speech and debate.
13 years ago, on a blind date set up by one of her sisters, Kate met Brendan Orr. The two became inseparable and shortly after, engaged.
Kete loved life! She always had a smile on her face and was described as goofy by her friends and family. She had a great zest for learning and loved animals, especially their two cat children, Max and Pippa. Kate was talented and thoroughly educated herself in the hobbies that interested her: painting, sketching, piano, guitar, and writing.
She loved her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them, being known for her Christmas fudge. Kate could often be found lost in a good book or listening to music.
Kate is deeply missed by her fiancé, Brendan Orr of Plymouth; her father, Kevin A. Nielsen of Plymouth; her siblings: Brittany B. (Chase) Wright of Bourbon and Jeffery J. Nielsen of Plymouth; nephew Walker Wright; maternal grandmother Beverly Ostaski and paternal grandmother Eleanor Jund, both of Florida; and her “in-laws” Mike and Jean Orr of Plymouth as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Sheree in 2014; her older sister Melissa in 2021; maternal grandfather Joseph Ostaski and paternal grandfather Hans Nielsen.
A Celebration of Kate’s Life will be held from 11-1 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
