U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) released the following statement after voting in opposition to H.R. 4521, the America CONCEDES Act.

“The Chinese Communist Party is a growing threat to America’s economy, our national security, and our way of life. Instead of getting tough on the CCP and holding this regime accountable for its vast human rights abuses and unfair trade practices, House Democrats’ America CONCEDES Act would embolden the Chinese government and weaken America’s ability to compete in the 21st century. This legislation exposes Democrats’ true priorities – including spending billions of taxpayer money on their climate schemes – while failing to protect American jobs and intellectual property.

“As our nation continues to recover from the pandemic unleashed by the CCP’s COVID coverup, we can’t afford for Democrats to keep giving in to the Chinese government at Americans’ expense. While House Democrats had a real opportunity to work with Republicans to collaborate on policy that would have bolstered our nation’s global competitiveness, they chose to pursue this partisan bill brimming with provisions that would hamper our workers and businesses as they seek to compete on the global stage – withholding wins from the American people for the sake of satisfying the radical left.”

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee.
