Officers from the Plymouth Police Department were dispatched to the area of US 30 and Pioneer Drive on Wednesday, December 29th in reference to a possibly impaired driver doing donuts in the median.

A Deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop when the suspect vehicle took off. A short pursuit ensued, and the suspect vehicle ran a couple of stop signs before rolling one and a half times near 7th Road and Pine Road.

The suspect and driver, 21-year-old Damarcus Thomas of Fort Wayne attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers from the Marshall County Police Department and the Plymouth Police Department.

Mr. Thomas received medical aid and was then incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated and Resisting Law Enforcement.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.  They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
