Plymouth Police Officers were dispatched to 1007 Ed Cook Boulevard for a report of domestic battery Thursday afternoon about 12:30.

Officers arrived at that location and discovered that a female was battered by her ex-boyfriend 25-year-old Cody Welch. Present during the domestic battery was a child.

Welch, who’s booking address is listed as 1007 Ed Cook Boulevard was later arrested for domestic battery in the presence of a child and strangulation. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $1,500 cash bond.  He was given an initial hearing in Marshall Superior Court III on January 18th.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
