In November, several band members from Plymouth High School have been selected for state honor bands for both the Indiana Jazz Educators Association and the Indiana Bandmasters Association.

On Sunday, November 14th, the Indiana Jazz Educators Association hosted the annual All-District Jazz Honor Band at Benton Central High School.   Students from across the state applied to be selected for this group and Plymouth High School sophomore, Beck Ruggles, was selected to perform in the tenor saxophone section.   The jazz honor band was under the director of guest conductor Dr. Mark O’Connor from the University of Indianapolis.

On Sunday, November 21st, the Indiana Bandmasters Association hosted the annual All-District Honor Band at Plymouth High School.  Plymouth was on of ten sites across the state to host this event.    The Plymouth site had nearly one hundred student applicants and a group of sixty-two students were selected to perform with the honor band.     Seniors Briana Leary (1st clarinet), William Kingston (1st trumpet), and Joel Carter (2nd trombone) were selected for the ensemble.   Junior band member, Ben Hutchings (2nd alto sax), and sophomore band member, Beck Ruggles (tenor sax), were also selected for the honor band.    The guest conductor was Keith Rudolph, former director of bands for Penn High School.

Plymouth High School band director, Bryan Ames, said “the Plymouth High School Band Department is extremely proud of these students and their accomplishments.  This is such a wonderful achievement for these students.   They all did an amazing job preparing for these events.”

Congratulations to all of our Plymouth High School honor band members.
