Marshall County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier would like to remind taxpayers that the Fall Installment of the 2020 pay 2021 property taxes will be due November 10.  Tax bills were mailed earlier this year with coupons for both the Spring and Fall Installments.

The Marshall County Building is open to the public and they are accepting payments in the Treasurer’s Office.  The Treasurer’s Office will be open this Saturday, October 6th from 9 a.m until noon and next Tuesday, November 9th and Wednesday, November 10th until 6pm both days. Payments are also accepted through the regular United States Post Office via check, money order or cashier’s check.  Credit or debit cards may be used online at www.co.marshall.in.us by clicking on Property Taxes (convenience fees may apply).

For the public’s convenience, the Marshall County Treasurer’s Office has installed drop boxes at both the north and south entrances of the Marshall County Building. These boxes are located between the doors, in the vestibule. The locked boxes will be checked multiple times daily. Additionally, there is an existing drop box on the outside of the south side of the building, near the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The following locations will be collection points for tax payments: All TCU locations, First Merchants Bank in Bourbon, First Farmers Bank and Trust in Culver and the Town of Bremen Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.  Residents are reminded they MUST include their tax coupon with the payment if choosing one of these options (and a self-addressed, stamped envelope only if a receipt is requested) in a sealed envelope.

If you are unable to pay prior to penalties being added please note that if there are no delinquencies a 5% penalty will apply for the first 30 days.  If not paid within the first 30 days, the penalty will become 10%.  For parcels where there are existing delinquencies an automatic 10% penalty will apply.

If your property taxes are escrowed, you should have received a tax bill copy for your records with “IN ESCROW” typed across it.  If you have paid off your mortgage and no longer escrow, please check with your lender to verify who is responsible to make the fall payment.

Residents are welcome to call the County Treasurer at 574-935-8520 with any questions or concerns.
