There are approximately 91 registered sex offenders in Marshall County, and Prosecutor Nelson Chipman and your Local Police Chiefs want parents to know which houses their children should avoid when trick-or-treating.
“Registered sex offenders report their home addresses. If you are going trick-or-treating, visit the Indiana Sex Offender Registry to see whose door you don’t want to knock on,” says Prosecutor Chipman. “Parents should search for offenders on their trick-or-treat route, and near any addresses where their children spend time. The search and maps on the website pinpoints where offenders live.” While on the website, citizens can also sign up for free email notifications should an offender move into their neighborhood or around an address important to the parent.
Chipman also added, “If you aren’t planning on trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, but will be in a family or friend’s neighborhood, search their address beforehand so you know which houses to avoid,”
Prosecutor Chipman wishes everyone in Marshall County a save and Happy Halloween!!
