Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters gave the commissioners an update on the 2021 Road Program during their meeting on Monday.

2B Road between State Road 331 and the County Line has been completed and Beech Road from U.S. 6 to Plymouth Goshen Trail was finished.  Peters said additional work being done includes Tomahawk Trail where millings have been put down, spread out and graded.  Within the next week they will be sprayed with AEPL to bond the material to the road surface.  Then in 2022 the county will chip and seal the roadway.

18B Road, west of State Road 331 is in the process of having milling put down.  Once completed they will be sprayed and then in the spring the County Highway Department will either triple-chip and seal or pug paving that section next year.

Superintendent Peters said they are adding shoulder material to the roads they have paved this season.

Peters also discussed the Community Crossings projects and said Sycamore Road is completed, South Michigan Road north of Argos is completed, North and East Shore and 3A Road is completed.  He said, yet to be determined is Muckshaw Road, 14th Road, Pretty Lake, South Shore and West Shore at Lake Max and Sage Road.  During their most recent discussions Peters said he anticipates Milestone Construction to begin around Lake Max yet this week.

When asked if the rest of the Community Crossing projects will be done yet this year Peters said, “I know they are pushing to try and get the rest completed.  They had to go back to U.S. 30 on Saturday and had initially intended to put shoulders back on South Michigan Road.”
