A Starke County man was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday morning on State Road 17.

About 6:30 the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call of an accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at 1720 West Lake Avenue, which is east of the main entrance of Saint Joseph Hospital in Plymouth.

Plymouth Police Officer Zack Wallace began an investigation.  His report indicates that a vehicle operated by 24-year-old Andrea Finley of Plymouth was eastbound on State Road 17 when her vehicle, a 2017 Jeep, struck a male pedestrian that was walking in the roadway.

The pedestrian, 58-year-old Roy McCarty from Knox, was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy was conducted on Monday and Marshall County Coroner John Grolich said the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.

Plymouth PD was assisted by Plymouth Fire/EMS, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, and Marshall County Coroner.
