Joyce “Jeannie” Harris, age 78 of Plymouth, IN passed away on September 18, 2021 at 12:10 a.m. in We Belong Senior Home, Plymouth, IN.

Jeannie was born October 23, 1943 to Ralph E. and Evelyn L. (Hardy) Hamell in Pana, IL. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1961. On June 3 of the same year, she married Red Harris and they shared over 60 years of marriage.

She worked for Schori’s Restaurant as a server and at JCPenney. She was also a talented floral designer, working first at Orr’s flowers, then going out on her own. She provided dozens of couples with their wedding flowers. In addition, she loved to paint and was a very crafty person. She loved decorating Christmas trees for friends, and being part of the Red Hats.

What she loved most was being at Red’s side on the pontoon boat, golf cart, or traveling all over the world. She and Red traveled together to 48 of the Continental United States. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, attending Mt. Pleasant Church (Bourbon, IN), Sunrise Chapel, and most recently the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.

Jeannie is survived by: her husband, Red; her son, Tim (Marcia) Harris; her daughter, Wendy (Garold) Holloway; her grandson, Christopher (Shelly Oriz) Bittinger; step-grandchildren: Amy (Dan) Chaffin; Todd (Katlin) Edgington; Chris (Conya) Holloway; Melissa Paxton; Jason Holloway; Troy Holloway; great-grandchildren: Elijah; Oliver; Presley; Emmalyn; her brother, Lester (Karen) Hamell; her sisters: Jan (Bob) Meyer; Jo (Tom) Wagner; Jill (Joe) Chalk; and sister-in-law, Mary Hamell; along with many nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brother, Larry Hamell; and step-grandson, Rodney Holloway.

A special thanks to the staff at We Belong Senior Home for care that far exceeded anything we could have wanted. Also, to the nurses at Elara Hospice for being so helpful when we needed it most.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Plymouth Wesleyan Church (11203 Michigan Rd. Plymouth, IN 46563).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in Plymouth Wesleyan Church (11203 Michigan Rd. Plymouth, IN 46563).
