On Thursday, August 26th, shortly after 3:00 AM, Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call of a possibly impaired driver northbound on US 31 from State Road 110. Marshall County Officer Wozniak was able to locate the vehicle, a silver 2017 Hyundai, in the area of US 31 and 14th Road and initiate a traffic stop.

During the officer`s investigation, it was determined that the driver was not impaired. Officer Wozniak utilized his canine partner Irok for a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and the canine showed a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched, and the officer located methamphetamine, methamphetamine paraphernalia and marijuana.

A backseat passenger identified as 37-yeara-old Tiffany L. Miller of Fountain, Michigan, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. She is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $1,500.00 bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
