Officer Steve DeLee with the Plymouth Police Department was working traffic enforcement on North Michigan Street Sunday, August 22nd when he saw a vehicle southbound that appeared to be traveling at an extreme high rate of speed.

During a traffic stop in the 1800 block of North Michigan Street, the driver was determined to have been consuming alcohol.

A chemical test showed 26-year-old Jonnie Sanchez of Plymouth to be intoxicated.  He was arrested and taken to Marshall County Jail with a charge of OWI and Reckless Driving.  He was held on a $1,500 cash bond and given a September 7th court date in Marshall Superior Court II.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
