On Sunday, August 8th, about 5:30 in the morning Marshall County Central Dispatch received a report of a vehicle off the roadway at U.S. 31 just before 5A Road.

Officer Ayala with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department located the driver from the accident who was identified as George Monroy, 26, of Elkhart.

Monroy was found to be intoxicated and transported to Marshall County Jail.  He was booked in for: Operating a motor vehicle While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .15% or higher, OWI-Endangerment and OWI-Refusal.

George Monroy was held on a $1500 cash bond and given a court date of August 17th in Marshall County Superior Court II. He bonded out on Sunday about 4 p.m.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
