Nellie E. Hunter, 102 years and 364 days old, entered her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior with her loving family by her bedside on Friday, July 30, 2021.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her recent illness and ultimately gave her a sense of peace.

Nellie loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word. Nellie was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large.  With a servant’s heart, Nellie would care for many people in her lifetime, always putting other’s needs before her own.

She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace and was an example to all who knew her.

Nellie was born July 31, 1918, in Argos, Indiana to Leslie and Viola Carpenter.  In 1947 Nellie married H.W. Hunter in Antioch, CA.  Nellie and H.W. had three children Delores, Hurshel, and Mark.

In 1999 at the age of 81, Nellie was the oldest person to receive their GED, an achievement she was very proud of.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband H.W. Hunter, daughter Delores Kelley, parents Leslie and Viola Carpenter, and siblings Nick, Faye, Selma, Maudie, Noah, Eddie, and Art.

Nellie is survived by her twin sister Trellie Hartman, son Hurshel (Kim) Hunter, son Mark (Lisa) Hunter, son-in-law Walter Kelley, granddaughter Candace Hunter, grandson Blake Hunter, grandson Seth (Shelly) Hunter, granddaughter Abby Hunter, great-granddaughter Kendalle Verkler, great-granddaughter Avery Hunter, and great-grandson Ian Hunter.
