On Thursday, July 29th Marshall County Police assisted the Kosciusko County Probation Department at a business in the 4400 block of Beech Road in Bremen. Marshall County Police conducted a random drug screen on probationer 38-year-old Lavon Kauffman of Etna Green.
During the check, Lavon Kauffman was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $1,500 cash bond for Possession of Methamphetamine.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
