Jordan, a co-author of House Resolution 12, said “Rising Stars” are high school seniors who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities, and they receive a $2,100 scholarship. Weldon was 1 of 21 Indiana students selected for the scholarship.
“Lindsey’s community involvement and drive is a reflection of her compassion and willingness to help others,” Jordan said. “The values she has demonstrated through her dedication to athletics and service will help open up many doors and opportunities, and she has a bright future ahead of her.”
Weldon has been an active member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marshall County since the age of 10. She is now an officer in the Boys & Girls Club of America Keystone Club, which provides leadership development opportunities for youth in focus areas of academic success, career preparation and public service. Weldon also participates in Future Teachers of America, a national program for students who have an interest in a teaching career.
