Museum signsThe Marshall County Museum has a new exhibit in its front window and on line! “It’s a Good Sign” explores the past through advertising signs from Marshall County businesses like Bosworth’s, Pretty Lake Resort, Schlosser’s, Henry’s Serv-U, and many more.

There are two ways to view this exhibit. One is through the museum’s website https://mchistoricalsociety.org/advertising/ . This online exhibit begins by discussing the history and use of advertising sign over the last several centuries. Keep scrolling through to read a description about each organization and see lots of photos, not only of the advertising sign, but also of the physical buildings, interiors, and other adverts.

The second way to view this exhibit is in person. While the Museum is currently closed due to COVID-19, they encourage folks to take a little stroll past their front window and peer inside to see these fascinating signs. Don’t be afraid to get up close and explore some Marshall County history!

Stay connected with the Marshall County Museum through their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages! Each week they post things like history tidbits, mysteries, genealogy research tips and more. For the month of February, they are continuing the series “Mysteries, Lore and Amusements of Marshall County”. In honor of February’s Black History Month, there is a new series that highlights the contributions African Americans have made in Marshall County. If you’ve got some time, take a few minutes and scroll through– there’s something of interest for everyone!
