Saturday evening about 8:45 the Plymouth Fire Department was dispatched to the Plymouth Walmart at 2505 North Oak Drive for the report of a fire.
Radio traffic indicated that the roof was on fire but as emergency services arrived on the scene Plymouth Police were able to get on the roof and found the fire was in a HVAC unit on the roof.
Mutual aid was requested from Culver and Bremen with their ladder trucks and manpower.
Plymouth firefighters were able to use a ladder at the north east corner of the building and put water on the unit to make sure the fire was extinguished.
Shoppers were evacuated from Walmart but were allowed to reenter a short time later.
Mutual aid crews were only on the scene for about 15 minutes before they were released, and Plymouth fire was there for about an hour. No injuries were reported and damage was contained to the HVAC unit on the roof.
