commencementPlymouth High School commencement has been approved! Commencement for the class of 2020, July 17, on the Football Field beginning at 7:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and attendance will be limited to four guests per graduate. Guests attending commencement must present a ticket at the gate prior to entering the stadium. Each graduate will be given 4 guest tickets during mandatory commencement practice on July 16 at 9:00 a.m. Guests may enter the football stadium through the gates to the north or south of the home bleachers. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Artificial noise makers are not permitted at commencement.
Guests will be seated in the home bleachers to the West of the football field. Bleacher seating will be available to accommodate groups of four. Your group of four will be separated from other groups by the proper spacing in accordance with social distancing expectations. Guest seating will be first come first serve. Handicapped seating will be available if needed. Each senior should communicate needs for reserved handicapped seating for his/her guests to Mrs. Portteus prior to commencement. On the night of Commencement, members of the class of 2020 will meet Mr. Condon and Mrs. Portteus in the Multi-Purpose Room at 6:45. Only the members of the class of 2020 will be allowed inside PHS. Gentlemen in the class of 2020 are expected to wear dress pants, a shirt (short sleeve is advised), tie, and dress shoes. Ladies in the class of 2020 may wear a dress, skirt and blouse, or blouse and dress pants along with dress shoes. Members of the class of 2020 should dress casually for commencement practice.
If the weather forecast on July 17 calls for bad weather we will move commencement into the varsity gym. Guests will be seated upstairs and bleachers will be marked off to accommodate groups of four and simultaneously provide social distancing between groups. If commencement is moved into the gymnasium, it will still begin at 7:30; seniors should still meet in the multi-purpose room at 6:45. Doors 5, door 7 or door 8 will be open for guests at 6:30. Guest seating will be first come first serve. Guests will be required to present a ticket as they enter PHS. Handicapped seating would be provided along the west wall on the gym floor.
