Bremen Public Library logoWith the world slowly awakening from a lengthy pandemic slumber has come the eager question of, “When is the library going to reopen?”

Rest assured, Bremen Public Library shares this anticipation as we proceed with a phased reopening plan. In the same vein, it’s a decision rooted in community safety. To accomplish this feat, many agencies are being consulted on a near-daily basis. The Indiana State Library, Indiana Library Federation, Marshall County Health Department, Governor Holcomb’s office, our board of trustees.

It’s important to note that the timeline isn’t a one-size-fits-all for libraries. The virus hitting harder in some locales more so than others produces a complex roadmap. There are factors to consider such as building and personnel size. Additionally, the ability to stagger staff schedules to promote health and well-being. Not to mention (most critically), prioritizing social distancing in an environment that, under typical circumstances, thrives as a gathering center. While libraries may take on a slightly different appearance during the short term, the heart of who we are still exists.

Along the way, our goal is to put as many resources as possible into your hands. Providing bonus e-content. Offering takeout of materials. WiFi that extends around the property. Free databases. Virtual activities. Readers advisory. Reference services. And — major announcement — a Summer Reading Program that will have you Imagining Your Story!

I want to thank each resident for unwavering patience and exemplifying what it means to be Bremen Strong. United as one, taking proactive steps cautiously to ensure every tomorrow. Please continue to check our website and social media for the latest announcements.
