Friday, May 1st at approximately 6:53 P.M. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Bragg responded to a two vehicle accident in the 100 block of State Road 10 and US 31.
The press release stated that vehicle 1 driven by a juvenile was traveling westbound on State Road 10 and approached the US 31 intersection from the east. Vehicle 1 proceeded through the northbound lanes of US 31 and then into the southbound lanes of travel of US 31.
During this, Vehicle 2 driven by Fritz H. Risner was traveling southbound on U.S. 31 and approaching the State Road 10 intersection. Driver 1 failed to observe and yield to Vehicle 2 and proceeded to travel westbound on State Road 10 colliding with the driver`s side of Risner’s vehicle in the southbound lanes of US 31.
Risner’s vehicle then rolled several times and came to rest in the median of US 31 south of State Road 10. Fritz Risner and Tracy Risner, were entrapped in the vehicle and required extrication. Tracy Risner was transported by helicopter for treatment and Mr. Fritz Risner was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No injuries were report for the juvenile driver.
