RealServiceLogoThe winner of the Mick Wyatt Volunteer of the Year Award winner for Real Services for 2020. The event was held virtually due to Covid19. Dorothy is form Bourbon. She is the 2nd winner in 2 years from Bourbon.

This is what Terry McFadden read about Dorothy:

Dorothy started volunteering over 22 years ago under the direction of then site director Hilda Lawrence at the previous Real site while at the Bourbon park. She volunteers daily at the current Bourbon Real Nutrition site held at the Machett Center helping set-up, decorating, serving, cleaning-up or whatever else needs done. She is loved by all for her dish-washing skills and positive attitude. Dorothy encourages others even when going though various health issues herself. Dorothy’s volunteering does not stop at the nutrition site.

Dorothy is very active in her church, the Bourbon First United Methodist Church, donating her time preparing benefit and funeral dinners, helping with charity bazaars, and the food pantry. Dorothy’s neighbors and friends benefit from her caring as well. She shares many garden vegetables with the site clients so all can have fresh produce. Furthermore Dorothy does not stop with just bringing in produce, she also makes delicious baked goods including zucchini cakes and egg plant casseroles for those unable to bake themselves. She also shares her talents helping others not wanting any special recognition. Dorothy does not let being 91 years young get in the way of serving others.
