Saint Joseph Health System has made extensive preparations in anticipation of a possible coronavirus (COVID-19) patient surge. The next visible step will be the installation of temporary screening structures outside the Emergency Departments of Mishawaka and Plymouth Medical Centers. These structures will serve as a staging area to efficiently direct patients based on their emergency medical needs, whether or not they are related to COVID-19. COVID-19 is highly contagious and we are taking this step to limit possible exposure for patients seeking emergency medical treatment for non-respiratory conditions.
Additional temporary screening structures will be placed at strategic locations within our regional service area in order to facilitate COVID-19 testing. Exact locations will be announced at a later date.
