James “JD” T. DeVault (75) of Plymouth, Indiana passed away on March 12, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center-Plymouth.

James was born the son of Raymond E. and Angela (Immekus) DeVault on August 6, 1944, in Plymouth, Indiana. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from West High School in 1962. On August 17, 1963, James married the love of his life, Evelyn Kuchel. He retired as an auto mechanic/technician from Kelly Buick of Bremen, Indiana. During his free time, he enjoyed playing the lottery, and hunting mushrooms, and having coffee with his cousin John at the Grovertown Truckstop. He loved racing, NASCAR, and watching his son and his 2 grandson’s race. J.D. also loved mowing his yard, and had a specific method of mowing so his yard looked perfect.

James is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, daughter Gwendolyn (Thomas) King of Knox, son Jeffrey DeVault of Plymouth, grandchildren Jesse (and fiancé Elise) DeVault, Zane DeVault, Vanden DeVault, and great-grandchildren Jordyn and Evelyn DeVault, He is also survived by sisters Pauline Pierson of Plymouth, Indiana and Joan Branden of Plymouth, as well as brother Raymond C. DeVault of Plymouth. There are several nieces and nephews who also survive. James is preceded in death by his parents, sister Florence Popp and brothers Robert and John DeVault.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services will be arranged at a later date.
