North Central Regional Center for Rural DevelopmentPurdue Extension continues to partner with the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development (NCRCRD) to provide a free webinar series related to the opioid crisis. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 5 at 3:00 PM for the next webinar in the series, “Fentanyl—Just the Tip of the Iceberg.” Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid that presents a challenge for emergency response systems navigating the opioid crisis.

Lafayette Fire Department Captain Toby Frost will present his perspective regarding the pressures emergency responders face in the opioid crisis, and will discuss what to expect as the crisis evolves. Captain Frost is the Fire Department’s Team Leader for the local HazMat Team and is a founder of the Illicit Lab Response Team based in Lafayette. The webinar will be a valuable resource for those working in the substance abuse arena. The webinar will also cover the potential trade-offs among emergency response, education, and prevention efforts.
