The Plymouth School Board unanimously approved a three-year contract for Superintendent Andy Hartley. The action was taken at the February 4 school board meeting. A public hearing on the matter was held at the January meeting to take comments from the public.
The new contract that runs through June of 2022 reflects an increase of $1,400 to the base salary.
In addition to the base salary, the contract includes an annuity contribution, VEBA contribution, gasoline allowance, annual board contribution to group/health/dental/vision insurance program, life insurance, and association memberships.
The superintendent is evaluated by the board and rated using the same categories that are used to show effectiveness as those used for teachers and other administrators. The board also reviews the superintendent’s salary and benefits each year. They could approve changes to the base salary, contributions or allowances at that time.
Board member Larry Pinkerton said, “He (Hartley) is a tremendous asset to Plymouth Schools.” Todd Samuelson, board president, commented as well saying, “He keeps his eye on the horizon. This is an easy vote for me.”
The extension of the contract will be effective from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.
