Ak Industries_1Members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety ratified Executive Order 2020-01 during their meeting Monday evening.   The order was for the temporary closure of Stanley Drive.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi said the request was made to temporarily close Stanley Drive between city meetings.  The closure request was made to unload equipment for the expansion of AK Industries at the building they recently purchased from Hehr.

1420 Stanley Drive AK IndustiresThe street closure happened on Monday and Mayor Senter said, “It was the largest semi I’ve ever seen.  It had 19 axles and weighed over 200 tons.”  He said the equipment and truck came from southern Alabama.

Councilman Jeff Houin asked if there was any damage to the city streets from the weight of the truck and equipment.   The semi came in on Saturday and had to sit on Stanley Drive until Monday when the equipment was unloaded.

AK Industries_2Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said he would check it out.  Marquardt said with that many axles it helps spread out the weight, so he doesn’t anticipate any damage.
