Recycle Depot_Logo11-10-17The Marshall County Solid Waste District Management Board of Directors meeting was held Monday at 11:15 in the office on Walter Glaub Drive.

The board welcomed new member, city councilman Greg Compton who is replacing Bill Walters.

The election of officers was held since it was the first meeting of the year.  Jon Van Vactor was reelected as President while Greg Compton accepted the nomination for Vice President.  The board also authorized Van Vactor and Compton as co-signers on checks.

Marianne Peters, Executive Director told the board she received a bill from Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) for $9,242.40.  This was three invoices for material and processing of electronics.  She said they had the wrong email address so she wasn’t getting the invoices.  Peters also noted that getting invoices is something new.   ERI never use to charge for pickup but they are now and it’s $.15 a pound.  She estimated the cost will be about $3,000 every 6 weeks and she has it in the budget for this new year.

Peters also said they are stepping up their ability to keep the Recycling Depot available to Marshall County residents only but they would rather take a TV from someone in another county then have the chance of them dumping it somewhere.

Commissioners Kevin Overmyer is a board member and asked if Solid Waste was charging for electronics such as TVs and Peters said no.  It was suggested that those who are outside of Marshall County pay for the service they receive.
