On Friday, January 3rd at approximately 5:15 P.M. Plymouth Police Officer Krynock conducted a traffic stop at Oak Drive and Pidco for a traffic infraction. During the investigation of the traffic stop the driver identified as 28 year old, Cameron James George Lawton of Plymouth was suspected of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated by a controlled substance. Lawton was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital Emergency Room for a chemical test and was later lodged at the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated-Controlled Substance and held on a $1,505 bond. He was released the next day after posting bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
