PHS Kitchen_1It is a busy week at Plymouth High School for students and staff with the first semester wrapping up and the eve of three days of straight finals. After school ends on Friday, staff and students will be off until school resumes for both on January 7, 2020. PHS Kitchen_2The kitchen staff at Plymouth High School headed by head cook Tammy Southern is not only busy preparing breakfast and lunch for students and staff this week but in addition, they are catering two big annual holiday events. The first of two took place Monday morning at Plymouth High School. Annually, the week leading up to winter break, the PHS administration and teaching staff are treated to breakfast before school begins on Monday. Southern, in her first year as the head cook, said she was in the PHS kitchen with some of her staff in the wee hours of the morning scrambling up a hearty breakfast for all to enjoy. On the menu was a scrambled egg casserole, hash brown casserole with cheddar cheese, and another with veggies, au gratin potatoes with ham casserole and another with sausage, plus fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee.

PHS kitchen_3The second event on the calendar this week for the PHS kitchen staff is the Plymouth Community School Corporation staff holiday open house at the Red Rock Cafe’ which is located inside the PHS cafeteria. The two-hour event happens on Wednesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Southern, said she is appreciative of the PCSC Director of Food Service Gloria Burnam for ordering all of the food ahead of time. “Our menu will consist of all of the staff favorites in years past, such as shrimp with cocktail sauce, fresh fruit and veggie trays, along with assorted cheeses and a variety of holiday desserts as well as punch and coffee,” said Southern.
