KentonYoder.Nov. 2019

Heartland’s featured artist for the month of November will be Kenton Yoder from North Central Indiana. The community is invited to the reception to meet Kenton and other Heartland Artists  on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 1-4 at the Gallery located at 101 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth.

Kenton Yoder discovered painting at age 56. Although always creative, he had never seriously considered art. Working in the model toy industry, dabbling in stained glass design, building an extremely detailed miniature building, and designing organic architecture satisfied his drive to create something unique.

Kenton_0220 Street Nights smallIn 2014, watching a family member paint with watercolors, he expressed an interest in painting. After his family gave him some basic acrylic paint supplies, he experienced a burst of creative energy and produced numerous paintings in his first year. He started painting in the abstract style because he thought it would be easier while learning the basics of painting. Although he learned that abstract may in fact be one of the most difficult genres in which to paint meaningful work that will connect

with viewers on an emotional level, he continues to enjoy the challenge.

After painting for five years, he is beginning to find his path, which is exploring textures and colors, and their relationships with different moods. His goal is to create art that will resonate with viewers on an emotional level. So far, he has resisted his own efforts to develop a signature “style” that is instantly recognizable.

He is also beginning to receive awards and recognition for his work, and has been invited to show his art at several solo and group exhibitions. His work can be seen at Arts on Main Gallery in Elkhart, Indiana, which has been representing him since early in his career. He exhibits at local shows and contests during the year, as well as on his website and Etsy. He documents his painting process on his Instagram channel. Kenton Yoder will exhibit his paintings in the month of November at Heartland Artists Gallery in Plymouth. For more information on Kenton visit www.gingkostudios.net.
