An Ohio man is in the Marshall County Jail after he allegedly fired a gun in his room and the bullet passed through several rooms at a motel on Plymouth’s north side.
Saturday evening at 7:28 Plymouth Police were dispatched to a “Shots Fired” incident at the Super 8 Motel at 2160 North Oak Drive in Plymouth.
Court records show that Plymouth Police were told the suspect had been in room 122 but had exited the building on the south end and was in the parking lot after the incident.
Locating 31 year old Cory David Craig of Kettering, Ohio, officers took him into custody without incident. Craig was in possession of a loaded pistol and two additional magazines and was wearing a bullet proof vest when officers conducted a pat down. He told police he also had a rifle in his vehicle.
During the investigation it was found that the bullet had passed through the television in Craig’s room and the wall behind it. It then passed through the walls and TV in room 120 and the walls in room 118.
The employee on duty told police she heard the noise from the gunshot but was unable to locate the source. Another guest told the clerk there were holes in his walls. At that point the clerk found Craig entering his room and saw the hole in the TV. She was given permission to enter the room and said they could charge him for the damages. He told her he fired the gun and it was an accident.
Cory Craig is currently sitting in the Marshall County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond. His initial court hearing is scheduled for November 5th in Marshall Superior Court I.
