CMA_Fishoff2019The Merz Trio, winners of the 46th annual Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, will be stopping at Culver Academies on Thursday, October 10th, for an afternoon clinic with orchestra students and a concert in the evening.

Culver Academies is a traditional stop for the Fischoff winners as they participate in a tour of the Midwest each fall. The 7 p.m. concert, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Heritage Room of the Legion Memorial Building.

Based in Boston, the Merz Trio is made up of violinist Brigid Coleridge, cellist Julia Yang, and pianist Lee Dionne. They took the gold in the senior division of strings/piano competition at the 2019 Fischoff. They also took the first prize and audience prize at the 2018 Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition and are currently the professional trio in residence at the New England Conservatory.

The Fischoff Competition is conducted each spring at the University of Notre Dame. This year, more than 60 ensembles representing more than 20 countries reached the quarterfinals. Following their Culver visit, the trio will be performing at the IVY Tech Auditorium in Valparaiso on Friday, Oct. 11, and Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 13.
