County News # 1Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters updated the commissioners on work completed or in progress at their meeting Monday.

The county’s Community Crossing projects: North Michigan Road from the Plymouth City limits north to the round-a-bout is complete, the stripping and shoulders on 11th Road between South Michigan Road and U.S. 31 are done so this project is complete, Dogwood Road from State Road 331 to U.S. 6 and Dogwood Road from U.S 6 to the county line is finished.  The final Community Crossing project is 9B Road from Union Road to the County Line is scheduled to start in October.

The highway employees are hauling two rounds of crushed concrete from Ozinga to the pit on 5C each morning, then they pick up a load of millings and hall it back to the highway department.  After that they get a load of pug and head to 3B Road for a paving project.  Peters said the wedging has been completed on 3B and the surface coat was started last Friday.  It’s anticipated that the project should be complete this week.

West Shore Drive at Lake of the Woods will be the next project for the County Highway Department.  The superintendent said he hopes to start that project next week.  He also said he was notified of a call for Federal project for 2025 with the application due in November.  Peters said they need to figure out a plan of what they want to apply for.
