crossroads-grayAt Crossroads, Marshall County’s regional planning team, anticipating the future is a full-time focus.  Improving the quality of life to make our great hometowns even more attractive to residents and investment is why the group exists.

Crossroads now boasts of over a hundred volunteers across their nine standing committees, including leaders from businesses across Marshall County working together with leaders from all county school districts.   And with local schools back in full swing, the goals, focus, and opportunities highlighted by the Education and Skills Training Committee of Crossroads is at the forefront in our region.

“With the start of a new school year often comes new opportunities. The Education and Skills Training Committee is focused on just that – creating opportunities for our students, adult workforce, and industry to connect in ways that ensure a promising future for Marshall County” states Andy Hartley, Superintendent of Plymouth Community School Corporation.

Hartley also states “We want our students to connect with the various industries so they can see the amazing work opportunities existing in our communities.  These opportunities generate confidence in the future of Marshall County, and are the foundation of sustainable growth.”

Joining Hartley as co-chair of the Education and Skills Training Committee of Crossroads, is Matt Davis, Manager of Training & Organizational Development at ITAMCO.  Davis states “As an industry representative I feel truly blessed to have some of the greatest schools right here in our county. The future of our county’s industry relies on the education our children receive.  It brings me great pleasure to see all the area school administrations working so hard to expand the areas of skilled-trades and industry partnerships in our schools. These partnerships will provide life and work skills to our youth who will one day hopefully be business leaders in the great Marshall County!”

The goal of the Education and Skills Training Committee is to better align our schools with our local economy while meeting the needs and desires of our workforce, with a focus on emerging trends and technologies.  Davis notes, “The North Central Area Vocational Cooperative has been doing a fantastic job of getting kids the hands-on learning they need in our county and the committee is looking for ways we can improve and expand the programs.”
