Heartland Artists Gallery would like to congratulate Mikayla Knepper in receiving the Heartland Artists Gallery Art Award for 2019. This scholarship is a tribute to her artistic accomplishments, and we believe that her talent, hard work, and determination will undoubtedly lead to a successful future at the University of St. Francis and in the art world.
This $1,000 Scholarship provided by both the Heartland Artists Gallery and Ed and June Pullen (founders and members of the Gallery) is awarded to a student showing exemplary artistic achievement and who is pursuing a degree in the visual arts at an accredited university. This award can be applied to the costs of art materials, books, and tuition. We look forward to learning more about Mikayla’s career goals, achievements, and we eagerly anticipate seeing her growing portfolio of artwork as she pursues a degree in Studio Art.
In 2018, the Heartland Artists began a “Student Membership” program alongside their regular memberships. This new program sought to reach out to exceptional student artists who wanted to learn more about displaying their art in galleries. Mikayla was recommended by her art teachers, Haley Church and Faith Hansen, and became the Gallery’s first Student Member. As a result, she has displayed several exceptional pieces of her art and assisted with various kids’ art classes and Kids’ Summer Art Camp, and has volunteered for many of Heartland’s events. We appreciate her energy, passion an involvement at the Gallery and will miss having her around.
The Gallery has been in existence for over 30 years in Plymouth. The Gallery’s mission is to support area artists, and to bring and to teach the arts to our community. Our not-for-profit Gallery gives area artists a venue to show and sell their art. Our art classes fulfill our mission for educating and they also assist in our financial means to maintain the Gallery. We are in the middle of a Membership Drive for all art enthusiast and artists.
