Baker Street Bridge_5Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the County Commissioners during their meeting Monday that the north walkway on the Baker Street Bridge has been looked at and there is nothing that needs immediate attention.

Baker Street Bridge_2After the Blueberry Festival the sidewalk decking on the north side will be removed to look at the substructure.  It’s suspected that shims used in the construction of the bridge were not treated but until the decking is removed they can’t be sure.

Peters also said he anticipates a call for federal aid projects for 2024 in September or October.  While there hasn’t been a call yet the County Highway Superintendent wants to have something ready it the call comes.  He told the commissioners he has some projects in mind and will talk with them and see what their thoughts are.

Peters also reminded the commissioners that doing flood repairs around bridges will now require him to seek a permit from the DNR.
