PSW_All Star Sprints 2019What a difference a year makes, for Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel not much. Reutzel won the All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Winged Sprint feature Saturday from the pole in a 30 lap feature. He won the feature last year when the ASCoC stopped at Plymouth on his way to a season championship.

The race was slowed for one caution early but the long green flag race had Reutzel passing lapped cars deep into the field. After the race Reutzel expressed how anxious he was not knowing how close the second place car of Brock Zearfoss was while trying to get through slower traffic.

Greg Wilson finished third and

TTony Stewart All Star Sprint 2019ony Stewart picked up the Hard Charger improving from his 12 place starting position to finish sixth.

Reutzel won his heat and set the quick time of the night with a 12.233 sec circuit of the Playground of Power.

UMP Modifieds were also in action Saturday with Mike McKinney of Plainfield, IL making the trip over and taking home the first place hardware and check. McKinney would win his heat from the second row but started on the front row in the feature and checked out on the field.

Frank Marshall returned to the podium in second place and Dylan Woodling would dig hard late to finish on the podium getting the third place back from Dillon Nusbaum.

The second place finish was enough to move Marshall into the points lead with the season winding down.

The final Thunder Stock race of the night featured the closest racing of the night upfront. Nate Payton would start on the pole and race door handle to door handle with Lee Hall for much of the feature. Payton held Hall off for the win finishing a car length in front of Hall. Clint Hall finished third with a great seat to all the action the front two were providing. But Clint Hall had is hands full with Austen Hubbard. Clint Hall was guarding the bottom of the track making Hubbard have to get around on the cushion. Hubbard wasn’t afraid to run up there but he just couldn’t get around Clint Hall to make it stick.

Lee Hall is leading the Thunder Stock division by 111 points over RJ Akers with Shane Sanders in third 165 points out of first. Thunder Stocks will have this week off.

PSW_All Star Sprints 2019 crowd at nightUMP Modifieds will return to action this Saturday and will be joined by CSR Sprints, Non-Wing 600 Mini-Sprints and Super Streets. The Super Street point race is far from settled with Ron Wilkes holding a slim 52 point lead over the winless Calvin Peek Jr. With 5 top 5 finishes in 9 features, will this be the week that Peek breaks through and get a win for 2019 season?

The Playground of Power will take the Labor Day Weekend off because of the Blueberry Festival activities but have scheduled several big shows for the fall.

Just added to the schedule for Sept. 27 and 28, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour will be racing for $12,000 to win in the Hoosier Autumn Classic. Two separate $2,500 to win 25 lap qualifiers with the top 4 overall in points locking into the 50 lap A main on Saturday.

Leading upto that show on Sept. 21 is the Fall Wing Fling 410 vs 360 Sprints. Racing on the same track will be the 410 winged sprints using SOD rules vs the 360 winged sprints racing under the ASCS rules. This show will also feature non-wing 600 mini-sprints, will anyone do double duty racing in both? Front wheel drive cars make their return to the clay track.

Oct. 12 and 13 will be a first for the Plymouth Speedway as the AMA Vintage Flat Track Motorcycles make their first appearance ever at the Playground of Power. These are the true matadors of the racing world. Wrestling a heavy, high powered two wheeled bull of a machine around the dirt track at speed is difficult enough, but put a bunch of others on the track with you racing handlebar to handlebar and you have the making for an evening of motorsport excitement that you owe it to yourself to witness in person. Circle the those dates on the calendar you will not want to be anywhere else.
