BourbonBourbon Street Department Superintendent, Roger Terry, prioritized the list of trees within the town that need to be removed due to safety concerns. Terry had spent the past several months trying to find tree trimmers to do the work and was finally successful in locating Cox Wood Removal. Town Clerk/Treasurer Kim Berger explained that the amount budgeted for tree a removal is set at $5,000. The quote from Cox Wood Removal to take down only three trees was $4,880.

Bourbon Town Council members voted unanimously during last week’s August meeting was to accept the quote from Cox Wood and additionally asked Terry to prioritize which trees he felt were the most dangerous if a storm or something of that nature occurred.

The trees selected for removal are in the town’s right-of-way at the Matchette Center at 805 North Harris Street, 510 North Harris Street and 528 South Main Street.

After the meeting, Berger said. “Most of the time they (tree removal companies) take the wood down to our property where residents can get it or, if they have a need for it, the company takes it.” She indicated that residents should contact the Clerk’s office to see if any wood is available at the yard waste dumping area.
