Citizens in Bremen will soon notice a major change in the look of their fire hydrants. In a release from the town it was announced on Friday that the Bremen Water Department is going to start repainting the fire hydrants.
While the character painted hydrants were unique to the town, the Water Department and Fire Department believe it will be more beneficial to paint the hydrants according to flows. They will paint the main hydrant red but the tops will be either: red, orange, green or blue depending on the water flow available at the hydrant.
Having the hydrants will greatly assist the Fire Department to know which hydrants can produce the most water and help them to quickly determine if additional hydrants are needed in the event of a fire.
The Town of Bremen sees this as an opportunity to improve their response time in a situation where every second counts.
