Culver Tool new building 6-2019Culver Tool and Engineering, Inc., also known as CTE Solutions, operating for over 69 years, has announced a $3.7 million expansion to accommodate business growth with a new facility just north of its existing building in Plymouth. CTE Solutions is one of the largest spinal rod manufacturers in the orthopedic industry and has seen tremendous growth, increasing sales by 70% and adding 35 employees in the last year alone.

CTE Solutions will invest $2.2 million to renovate and expand the new building location. It will also invest $1.5 million to purchase and install machinery and equipment used to manufacture spinal rods, implant devices, and special instruments. The expansion will create 10 new jobs and aid in the retention of over 180 existing employees.

According to Mark Morris, Vice President of CTE Solutions, “This expansion is driven by an increase in market demand, and we are incredibly pleased to continue growing and expanding in Plymouth with the support of the City.”

The expansion is supported by a real and personal property tax abatement approved by the Common Council following a public hearing on June 24th. The hearing was the second step in the tax abatement process. The first step took place on June 10th when the Council passed a resolution designating the new facility as an economic revitalization area.

Founded as Culver Tool and Engineering, the business originally produced broach tools for the automotive industry. Over the years, the company transformed itself to service the medical industry, rebranding itself as CTE Solutions in 2013. As a leader in spinal rod manufacturing, CTE Solutions looks to new innovations and methods to set the standard in quality machined and manufactured spine rods through bending, blasting, and machining.
