Bid OpeningMonday morning he Marshall County Commissioners opened bids for the five Community Crossing projects.  There were four companies that submitted bids: Reith Riley, E & B Paving, Walsh & Kelly and Pend and Brown.

The five projects the funds will be used on are Dogwood Road from State Road 331 to U.S.6; North Michigan Road from the Plymouth City limits to Veterans Parkway; Dogwood Road from U.S. 6 to the county line; 11th Road from U.S. 31 to South Michigan Road and 9B Road from Union Road to the county line.

Marshall County received $997,500 from the state from Community Crossings and will put there 25% match with those funds to bring the total well over a million dollars for this year’s road improvements.

The county set the bid process up to that they can select the lowest bidder for each project instead of having to select the lowest grand total.  This will allow them so save additional funds.

The bids were taken under advisement for review and will be awarded at the June 17th commissioner’s meeting.
