Plymouth Community SchoolsThe Plymouth Community School Board accepted the resignation of Webster Elementary Principal Carrie McGuire during their June 4 meeting.  At the May meeting, they had accepted the resignation of Menominee Principal Steve Boyer.

McGuireMcGuire will be starting her new position as principal at Woodview Elementary in Nappanee in July. Prior to the meeting, McGuire shared her thoughts on leaving the Plymouth Schools saying, “When I came to Plymouth as a brand new principal 13 years ago, I had no idea how many friends I would make and how much I would learn.” I couldn’t have asked for a better place to make the transition from teacher to principal.”

She went on to praise the Webster School staff saying, “The staff are so dedicated to children and go up and beyond day in and day out for students.”  McGuire added, “I’ve been here long enough to see kindergarten students who have now gone on to graduate, which is unbelievable . I will miss the Plymouth community and Webster a great deal and am thankful for the experience the past 13 years.”

BoyerBoyer had echoed his appreciation to the Plymouth community in May. He said, “I am forever grateful for the opportunity I had to serve Menominee students and families and the Plymouth community.” “Plymouth believed in me, inspired me, and afforded me countless experiences that enriched my life and define who I am as a person and educator. “ He began with the Plymouth Schools in 2006. He will be the principal of Eisenhower Elementary in Warsaw.

Both McGuire and Boyer will be serving in schools closer to their homes, thus decrease their commute.

After the board meeting, Plymouth School’s Superintendent, Andy Hartley, expressed his appreciation for their contributions. He said, “It has been my pleasure having Mr. Boyer and Mrs. McGuire as part of the Plymouth School’s community. I am grateful for the hard work and commitment that both of these individuals have contributed to their respective schools, to our school district, and to the Plymouth community.”

According to Hartley, the search for new principals has already started. He said, “We are beginning the search for their replacements and are hoping to have recommendations to the school board as soon as possible.

Hartley pointed to the cultures of each elementary building as a positive. He said, “Both buildings have an outstanding group of teachers and staff along with a positive network of parental support and involvement. This combined with a collaborative administration team will be tremendously helpful not only as we search for each building’s principals, but also as we transition those who are selected into their new positions.”
