Updated release 5/8/19  10 P.M.

Wednesday, Pretzels, Inc. announced plans for a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in Plymouth. As part of the project, Pretzels will add more than 120,000 square feet to its existing plant, creating space for additional production and packaging lines. The overall expansion, representing an investment of approximately $70 million and 180 new jobs, will increase efficiencies with existing operations, including peanut butter pretzel and bulk pretzel production. The additional capacity is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2020.

Pretzels, Inc.’s current plant occupies the state-of-the-art manufacturing center constructed as part of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission’s and Marshall County Economic Development Commission’s new business attraction efforts. The Plymouth facility, which opened in 2017, has already seen one expansion with the $9 million addition of a second oven in 2018. The building was designed to be expandable to accommodate growing business needs quickly.

Mayor Mark Senter said, “I’m pleased to see Pretzels, Inc.’s investment in the Plymouth community; this expansion will create many meaningful job opportunities.” “The project is another example of the positive growth underway in Plymouth and Marshall County, growth that is a direct result of our strategic economic development efforts,” the Mayor also stated.
